Below are links to CyberSafety lesson plans for you to use and to activities that your students may enjoy while they learn how to be safer online.

Enticement:

The Missing Kit from Web Wise Kids
The Missing kit, developed by LiveWires Design Ltd, teaches children how to surf the Internet safely. It includes a CD-ROM game for children, a parent/teacher guide, a video and a poster. (quoted from www.internetsafety.com) The Missing Kit is useful for Middle and High School students.

Chat:

The BBC's ChatGuide
This guide contains everything you need to run lessons on chat safety for 8-10 and 11-16 year olds, in two separate Teachers Packs. The lessons have been created by teachers and Internet safety experts.

Copyright Piracy:

Play It Cybersafe
This site has two downloadable curriculums. One is a comic book lesson on copyright, and is a supplement to Weekly Reader 4. The second has lessons on software licensing and piracy for grades 3 - 5.

CyberEtiquette:

Practicing Good Cyber Netiquette
It is a series of lessons geared to teachsafety using e-mail, chatrooms and good behaviors when using the Internet. It links to Disney's Comix Episodes and other Disney sites that reinforce these concepts. (Description found on http://www.cybercitizenship.org)

General:

CyberQuoll
CyberQuoll is an Internet safety education program for primary aged students. It forms part of the NetAlert CyberSafe Schools program (referenced in the teacher curriculum page). CyberQuoll for designed for students, however support materials have been developed for teachers to use to help educate students about Internet safety. There are 6 animations. Animation 1 is an introduction. The remaining 5 animations are stand-alone and not dependent on each other. Each animation showcases important Internet safety themes.

GridClub
The Cybercafé is an integral part of the Internet Proficiency Scheme of the UK developed to help teachers educate children on staying safe on the Internet. The scheme...aims to develop a set of safe and discriminating behaviors for pupils to adopt when using the Internet and other technologies.

KidSmart
5 lesson resources on Internet safety which you can use in the classroom. Some are simple, for example the Have Fun Communicating exercise. Others will take more time and involve you using or ordering the other resources on this website.

CyberSmart
This lesson focuses on the importance of being cybersmart when surfing the Net.

McGruff
This is a game for students in upper elementary school to test their knowledge of online safety concepts.

Web Site Evaluation:

Berkeley Guide to Evaluating Web Sites
This page... begins with looking at your search results from a search engine or other source, follows through by investigating the content of page, and extends beyond the page to what others may say about the page or its author(s).

Springfield Township High School Teacher and Student Lesson Plan:
This is a lesson that uses online Web pages in the process of evaluating validity of the sites. It is written in an easy to follow plan for teachers that has an accompanying lesson for the student.
